Calendar challenge April 2015

Hi there all my arty friends......

I have been running a calendar challenge over on one of my facebook pages for the last 3 months. The challenge is to take a cheap shop bought calendar and alter it each month with a new face !!!

The theme for Aprils page is 'whimsy flower faces'

I love painting flowers on my journal pages and love drawing faces so it seemed like an obvious choice !!!!

I used a mix of Dina Wakley and Amsterdam acrylics for this piece. The colours are fabulous and used the trusted Stabilo all pencil for shading.

I love my little flower girl and think I will creating many more of these beauties !!!

Inspiration Journal !!!!

Inspiration everywhere !!!!!

You know what it's like, as artists we see inspiration in others work, in the colours we see around us, even in the shapes and textures in everyday life...... And then when it comes to creating something we stare at that blank page and can't think of a single thing to do !!!!!

So I've decided to start keeping an inspiration journal, where I can stick things down, try paint colours and textures and practice ideas so that when I'm stuck for something to do I can always refer back to it and create something amazing !!!!

I'm using a small dylusions journal as it's the perfect size and the paper is good for experimenting with different medias.

Why not give it a try !!!

Hopefully I'll never be in a creative rut  again !!!

A weekend with Dina Wakley !!!

Have just spent the last weekend in Harrogate at 'Art from the Heart' with the very fabulously talented and all round lovely Dina Wakley......
I looooove Dina's carefree style and attitude to Art,  and her true passion for what she does shines through with every page she creates.

We spent the whole weekend learning new techniques with acrylics (which are my favourite medium) and exploring different paint processes which could then be used in journal pages.....

Sunday was spent putting some of our new paint techniques to use creating journal pages with a difference. Interactive pages with cuts and folds......I was reluctant at first to want to cut out parts of my pages but that's why we were there right !! To be out of our comfort zone and create new things !!!!
The resulting pages are full of interest and  even though I'm not quite finished yet I loooove how they look together and will definately be trying this again !!!!

A great weekend was spent with some lovely ladies and can't wait for Dina to wing her way back to the UK again for some more awesome classes. If you ever get the chance to take classes with her I would highly recommend it

Welcome !!!!

Yay !!!!!
Well here I am, just a little excited (a lot excited really) to be writing my very first blog post.
For those of you who know nothing about me let me introduce myself.......
I am a 40 something mum of 2 and nanny of 2 who are my entire world and have been crafting in different mediums since I can remember...... I've tried them all, card making, scrapbooking, jewellery making, textiles, knitting etc etc
I only discovered Art Journalling and Mixed media about 18 months ago and in my usual impulsive style HAD to give it a try.....little did I know I would become completely hooked and discover my true crafting passion.....

I try to create something everyday and even get up early so that I have an hour to play before heading off to the day job..... Committed or obsessed I hear you say ??? Probably the latter hehe !!

I have made some amazing friends around the country and on social media through our mutual passion for all things inky and painty and am truly blessed to have them all in my life......

Well enough about me, I don't want to bore you......I want you to come back and visit after all, can't wait to meet you all and get to know you better...
